The Honda Golf Classic is more than a golf tournament The national PGA tour raises millions of dollars a year.
This year, the philanthropic group raised over $5 million
for the Nicklaus Children’s Healthcare Foundation, of which l.2 million will be used to fund a mobile dental van.
The dental van looks like a mobile trailer on the outside, but on the inside is a fully functioning dentist’s office.
“It is unbelievable. They will have a pediatric dentist on board,” Barbara Nicklaus said.
Jack and Barbara Nicklaus, who are the founders of the Nicklaus Children’s Healthcare Foundation, said they’ve always wanted to help children.”
“We thought we had a chance of losing our daughter at 11 months old. Jack and I were young parents then and we said if we were ever in position to help children or to help anyone,we wanted it to be children,” Barbara Nicklaus said.
The mobile dentist’s office will help to serve over 1,000 kids throughout Palm Beach County. It is expected to arrive in the area late fall.
