Carol and Harold Baxter’s Everglades Island home was the setting for an intimate reception honoring Barbara and Jack Nicklaus and their Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation.
The reception took place Jan. 16.
The evening included cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and an update on the impact that Nicklaus Children’s Hospital is having on lives, locally and globally.
Dr. Narendra Kini, president and CEO of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, spoke briefly, sharing how innovative programs are changing the way childhood illnesses are prevented, diagnosed and treated.
The evening’s highlight was the recognition of the Nicklauses as “Champions for Children.”
“The Baxters share Jack’s and my passion for helping children,” Barbara Nicklaus said. “We are so grateful that our friends wanted to recognize the life-changing work that takes place every day at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and we are honored to play a role in making sure families in our community have the care they need.”
More than 40 people attended the reception.
Proceeds benefit the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation, established in 2004 with a mission to provide access to world-class pediatric health care in families’ own communities. The foundation supports Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, formerly Miami Children’s Hospital.
