The Honda Classic annually raises millions of dollars for local charities in South Florida and while the golf tournament is the headliner, Monday’s event at PGA National will generate hundreds of thousands of dollars as well.
The inaugural Honda Classic Cares “Play Yellow Birdie Bash” was held at the Match Course and Par-3 Staple Course throughout the day. The event raised more than $460,000.
27 two person teams of local golf pros set out to play 81 holes. The goal? To make as many birdies as possible, all in the name of charity. Donors contributed pledges for birdies with the money going to the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami as well as the South Florida PGA Foundation.
